Tyler Bernabe’s Strong Eye Leads the North Delta Pirates Past the South Fraser Giants in Pre-Season Action
NORTH DELTA, BC — March 24, 2024
Tyler Bernabe showed a strong eye at the plate on Sunday as Bernabe walked four times while leading the North Delta Pirates to a 12-4 victory over the South Fraser Giants.

The South Fraser Giants were the first to get on the board in the first inning when Linden drew a walk, subsequently scoring a run.
The South Fraser Giants added to their lead in the third inning on a RBI ground out by Jacob, making the score 2-0.
The North Delta Pirates battled back and took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Kyle Sallinen and Payton Harper both walked, each subsequently scoring a run.
Lachlan doubled in the top of the fifth, helping the South Fraser Giants tie the game.
The North Delta Pirates regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth after Sammy Wong singled and Ryo Ikeda stole home, each scoring one run.
The seesaw battled ended in the bottom of the eighth inning when the North Delta Pirates scored five runs on three hits. Bernabe doubled, scoring one run; Harper grounded out, scoring two runs; a steal of home scored one run; and Liam Jones singled, scoring one run.
Wong stepped on the mound first for the North Delta Pirates. The righty surrendered two hits and two runs over two and one-third innings, striking out five and walking six.
Tomas Mancini, Ikeda, Jones, and Nathan Strang each came on in relief for the North Delta Pirates and shutdown the South Fraser Giants.
The North Delta Pirates piled up 11 hits in the game. Harper led the North Delta Pirates with three RBI from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went one-for-three on the day.
Tyler Conway and Jones each collected two hits for the North Delta Pirates.
Bernabe led the North Delta Pirates with four walks.
Overall, the North Delta Pirates had a strong eye at the plate, pilling up 16 walks in the game.
Carson Stoochnoff, Jared Goumans, Conway, Ikeda, and Bernabe each stole multiple bases for the North Delta Pirates which stole 17 total bases in the game.
Linden and Lochlan were a one-two punch in the lineup for the South Fraser Giants as each drove in a run.
Max, Lealand, and Cole each collected two hits for the South Fraser Giants.
Mike paced the South Fraser Giants with three walks and overall, the team showed patience at the plate tallying 11 walks in the game.
Dakota and Cole each stole multiple bases for the South Fraser Giants with the team collecting 11 stolen bases in the game.
The North Delta Pirates will play their next preseason game at Mackie Park against Cloverdale in a game scheduled for March 31st.
