4 Pitchers Work Together as the North Delta Pirates Shut out the Vancouver Mounties in Pre-Season Action

NORTH DELTA, BC — March 17, 2024

The North Delta Pirates defeated the Vancouver Mounties 12-0 on Sunday as four pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Jared Goumans, Ryo Ikeda, Tomas Mancini, and Nathan Strang each pitched for the North Delta Pirates in the game. Please see a recap of the game below:

  • The North Delta Pirates got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Sammy Wong doubled.

  • A single by Noah Grant extended the North Delta Pirates lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

  • The North Delta Pirates scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Wong singled scoring one run, two runs scored on an error, Payton Harper doubled scoring one run, and an additional run scored on a passed ball.

  • Mancini earned the win for the North Delta Pirates. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Goumans, Ikeda, and Strang each threw scoreless innings for the North Delta Pirates in relief.

  • Wong drove the middle of the lineup, leading the North Delta Pirates with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day.

  • Carson Stoochnoff led the North Delta Pirates with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks in the game.

  • Pinch running for Wong, Goumans stole four bases and the North Delta Pirates stole a total of eight bases in the game.

  • The North Delta Pirates were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error led by Stoochnoff who made the most defensive plays with eight.

  • Two players on the Vancouver Mounties collected a hit and the team turned one double play in the game.

  • The North Delta Pirates will host the South Fraser Giants in their next pre-season game on March 24th at Mackie Field.
