Tyler Bernabe’s Strong Eye Leads the North Delta Pirates Past the Chilliwack Cougars
Tyler Bernabe showed a strong eye at the plate on Wednesday, as Bernabe walked three times while leading the North Delta Pirates to a 10-0 victory over the Chilliwack Cougars.

A passed ball put the North Delta Pirates on the board in the bottom of the first.
North Delta added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Tyler Conway walked, Carson Stoochnoff scored after tagging up, and Sammy Wong singled, each scoring one run.
A walk by Bernabe, a ground out be Conway, and a double by Jared Goumans helped the Pirates extend their early lead to 8-0 by the end of the third.
A scoreless fourth passed and the game ended 10-0 at the end of the fifth after Wong singled, scoring Bernabe and Tomas Mancini walked, scoring Goumans.
Noah Grant earned the win for the North Delta Pirates. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one.
Cian Sexton took the loss for Chilliwack. The southpaw went one and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on one hit, striking out one and walking five.
Mancini collected the save.
Goumans drove the middle of the lineup, leading North Delta with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 1-for-3 on the day.
Wong went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the North Delta Pirates in hits.
Bernabe paced North Delta with three walks and the team had 13 in the game. He also paced the team with three steals.
Joe Ewert led Chilliwack with two hits in two at bats.
Chilliwack turned one double play in the game.
Next up for the North Delta Pirates is a game at the South Fraser Giants on Thursday.
