North Delta Pirates Claim Victory Over South Fraser Giants

The North Delta Pirates beat the South Fraser Giants 4-1 on Thursday at Unwin Park to mark their second ten-game winning streak of the season.

  • The North Delta Pirates got on the board in the second inning after Tyler Bernabe singled, scoring one run.

  • The game stayed that way for the next four innings until Jared Goumans scored on a Sammy Wong ground out in the top of the fifth.

  • The pitching duel continued until the seventh when Lucas Stebbings hit a ground ball and the South Fraser Giants committed an error, scoring Tyler Conway and Goumans.

  • A single by the South Fraser Giants in the bottom of the seventh narrowed the score to 4-1 in favour of the Pirates but that was a close as the South Fraser Giants would come as Liam Jones struck out their final batter, ending the inning.

  • Jones pitched a full game, earning the win in the victory. He gave up two hits and one run (zero earned), striking out eight and walking none.

  • Jacob Crowder started the game for the Giants. They surrendered three hits and one run over three innings, striking out four and walking five.

  • Stebbings drove the middle of the lineup, leading the North Delta Pirates with two runs batted in.

  • Bernabe led North Delta with two hits in two at bats from the leadoff position. He also had two walks.

  • Bernabe and Goumans each stole multiple bases for the Pirates.

  • Dakota Simicak and Cole James were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for South Fraser.

  • James led South Fraser with one RBI, going 1-for-3 on the day.

  • Simicak stole two bases and the Giants turned one double play in the game.

  • The North Delta Pirates are in the middle of three straight games versus the South Fraser Giants. The next two will be played at Mackie Park in North Delta as a double-header on Sunday.
