Second-Inning Spurt Lead North Delta Pirates Past Chilliwack Cougars; Liam Jones Throws Second Straight North Delta Pirates Shut-Out

The North Delta Pirates defeated the Chilliwack Cougars, 9-0, on Tuesday thanks in part to five runs in the second inning and a dominant pitching outing by south paw Liam Jones.

  • The North Delta Pirates opened the scoring in the first inning after Jared Goumans singled, scoring one run.

  • In the second inning, the North Delta Pirates broke the game wide open, scoring five additional runs to lead the game 6-0. Tyler Bernabe singled, scoring one run, Tyler Conway singled, scoring two runs, and Ryo Ikeda doubled, scoring two runs.

  • North Delta tallied three additional runs in the fifth inning and cruised to a 9-0 final

  • Jones earned the win for the North Delta Pirates. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs in a complete seven-game outing, striking out six and walking three along the way.

  • Kaelen McAuley took the loss for Chilliwack. The starting pitcher went three innings, surrendering six runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking three.

  • The North Delta Pirates tallied 11 hits in the game.

  • Conway and Ikeda were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two funts.

  • Ikeda led North Delta with three hits in four at bats.

  • Carson Stoochnoff and Goumans each collected multiple hits.

  • Riku Sakuta stole two bases.

  • The North Delta Pirates turned two double plays in the game.

  • Rheece McAuley led Chilliwack with one hit in three at bats.
