North Delta Pirates Defeat Vancouver Mounties in Second Game of Double Header; Noah Grant Throws Complete Game Shutout in Victory

The North Delta Pirates were triumphant over the Vancouver Mounties, 5-0, as Noah Grant went the distance, spreading three hits over seven innings in a complete game shutout victory.

  • The North Delta Pirates scored first in the top of the third inning when Tyler Bernabe hit a pop fly and reached on an error by Vancouver’s second baseman. Lucas Stebbings scored in the process and North Delta led 1-0.

  • The North Delta Pirates added to their lead in the top of the fourth when Sammy Wong singled on a ground ball and Jared Goumans scored on the throw. North Delta added a third run later that inning when Wong then scored on a passed ball and the lead was 3-0.

  • Buoyed by strong pitching and fielding, the North Delta Pirates continued their shut out into the fifth inning, adding an additional two runs on a Tyler Conway single that scored Bernabe and Noah Saunders.

  • And, that’s all it would take as N. Grant pitched a final three innings of scoreless ball and the North Delta Pirates took the game 5-0.

  • N. Grant stepped on the hill first for the North Delta Pirates. They earned the win, spreading three hits and zero runs over seven innings while striking out seven and walking four.

  • Kyle Symons pitched admirably in a losing cause for Vancouver. The starting pitcher gave up zero hits and one run over three innings, striking out four and walking one.

  • Conway led the North Delta Pirates with two runs batted in. The second baseman went 1-for-4 on the day.

  • N. Grant, Wong, Conway, and Ryo Ikeda each collected one hit for North Delta.

  • Stebbings and Goumans led the team with two walks a piece and North Delta accumulated eight total walks in the game.

  • Bernabe tallied three stolen bases.

  • The North Delta Pirates turned two double plays in the game.

  • Shaun Stark, Isaac Hansen, and Even Duckham each collected one hit for Vancouver.

  • Next up for the North Delta Pirates is a game against the Chilliwack Cougars at Mackie Park in North Delta on Tuesday, June 11th.
