Runs Hard to Come By in North Delta Pirates Second Straight Win in Bottom Half of Double Header Vs. Ridge Meadows Royals

Both the North Delta Pirates and the Ridge Meadows Royals were strong on the mound on Sunday but the North Delta Pirates defeated Ridge Meadows 3-1 as starting North Delta pitcher Ryo Ikeda went the distance, recording all 21 outs.

  • The North Delta Pirates were the first to get on the board in the second inning when an error resulted in one run.

  • In the bottom of the third inning the North Delta Pirates returned the favour, committing an error of their own, which helped Ridge Meadows tie the game at 1-1.

  • The North Delta Pirates took the lead in the top of the fourth when Tyler Conway drew a walk that resulted in one run, giving the North Delta Pirates a 2-1 advantage.

  • In what seemed like a mirror image of game one in double header, the North Delta Pirates never looked back, shutting down Ridge Meadows in innings 4 through 7 to close out the game.

  • Ikeda pitched a full game, seven inning, victory, surrendering just three hits and one run (zero earned), and striking out seven. Ikeda has yet to give up an earned run this season in 15 innings pitched.

  • Easton Medhurst stepped on the mound first for Ridge Meadows. They gave up six hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out three and walking five.

  • Jared Goumans went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the North Delta Pirates in hits.

  • Tyler Bernabe stole three bases for the North Delta Pirates. Across the two-game double header, Bernabe paced his team, earning five walks and four stolen bases.

  • Brennan Cragg led Ridge Meadows with two hits in three at bats.

  • Ridge Meadows turned one double play in the game.
