Jared Goumans Leads North Delta Pirates Past Tri City Thunder, Extends North Delta’s Unbeaten Streak to Six

Jared Goumans struck out ten batters as the right-handed pitcher led the North Delta Pirates past the Tri City Thunder 10-1 on Tuesday at Mackie Park.

  • The Tri City Thunder were the first to get on the board in the first inning when Hunter Graham singled, scoring a run.

  • The North Delta Pirates jumped back into the lead, 4-1, in the bottom of the first inning after a walk by Sammy Wong, a wild pitch, a sacrifice by Brendan Grant, and a single by Riku Sakuta, each scored one run.

  • The North Delta Pirates added another run in the third when Kyle Sallinen hit a sacrifice fly.

  • In the bottom of the fourth the North Delta Pirates broke the game wide open, scoring five runs on five hits. Tyler Conway singled, scoring a run, Goumans singled, scoring two runs, and Wong singled, scoring two runs.

  • Alex Deol stepped on the mound first for the Tri City Thunder. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and four runs over one inning, striking out one and walking three.

  • Goumans earned the win for the North Delta Pirates, striking out ten batters and allowing three hits and one run over six innings while walking six.

  • Noah Grant pitched one inning of no-run ball for the North Delta Pirates in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out three, walking one and putting two others on base.

  • Wong provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading the North Delta Pirates with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-2 on the day.

  • Conway and Wong each collected two hits for the North Delta Pirates.

  • Ryo Ikeda paced North Delta with three walks.

  • Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game.

  • The North Delta Pirates were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.

  • Graham led the Tri City Thunder with one run batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-1 on the day.

  • Isaac Kim led the Thunder with two hits in two at bats.

  • Keven An led the Thunder with two walks.

  • Brendan Haraguchi stole two bases.

  • Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game.

  • The North Delta Pirates next play at home when they host a double header against the Victoria Seawolves on Saturday, May 11th. In a busy weekend of baseball, they will follow the tilts with Victoria in another double header against the Kelowna Sundevils on Sunday, May 12th. All four games will be hosted at Mackie Park in North Delta.
