Pitching Shines in Game One of Double Header Vs. Ridge Meadows as North Delta Pirates Grab Lead Late for Victory

Buoyed by the strong pitching of Brendan Grant and the catalyst play of Tyler Bernabe, the North Delta Pirates topped the Ridge Meadows Royals 4-3 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game. Tied 3-3 after three innings, the North Delta Pirates didn’t allow a single additional run in the final four innings of the game, outlasting Ridge Meadows when Sammy Wong singled in the top of the fifth, scoring the run that put them ahead for good.

  • The North Delta Pirates were the first to get on the board in the first inning when Wong drew a walk, scoring one run.

  • Ridge Meadows took the lead in the bottom of the first innings after Nolan Gibson doubled, and Brennan Cragg singled, each scoring one run.

  • The North Delta Pirates captured the lead, 3-2, in the top of the second after Ridge Meadows committed an error, and Bernabe doubled, each scoring one run.

  • Cragg singled, which helped Ridge Meadows tie the game at three in the bottom of the third but that was all they would get as North Delta shut the door from that point forward.

  • B. Grant pitched a complete game for the North Delta Pirates, facing 32 batters, striking out seven and allowing two earned runs; ultimately picking up the win for his team. The right-handed pitcher spread seven hits over seven innings.

  • Caleb Lycan began the game for Ridge Meadows. They gave up three hits and four run over five innings, striking out seven and walking five.

  • Wong provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the North Delta Pirates with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-2 on the day.

  • Bernabe, Ryo Ikeda, and Wong each collected one hit for the North Delta Pirates.

  • Bernabe paced the North Delta Pirates, going 1-for-1 at the plate with a double, three walks, one stolen base and two runs scored.

  • Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game.

  • Cragg drove the middle of the lineup, leading Ridge Meadows with two runs batted in. They went 2-for-3 on the day.

  • Jackson Holland and Cragg each collected two hits for Ridge Meadowns.

  • Ridge Meadows turned one double play in the game.
