North Delta Pirates Triumph over Kamloops RiverDogs in Second Game of Double Header Sunday

NORTH DELTA, BC — April 14, 2024

The North Delta Pirates bested the Kamloops RiverDogs 8-3 on Sunday in the second game of their scheduled double header.

Please see a recap of the game below:

  • The North Delta Pirates opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two walks. They first got on the board when Kyle Sallinen drew a walk, scoring one rung.

  • The Kamloops RiverDogs tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a single by Cooper Kasen.

  • In the top of the fifth inning, the North Delta Pirates flipped the game on its head, scoring five rungs on tow hits to take a 7-2 lead. The biggest blow of the inning was a single by Carson Stoochnoff that drove in two.

  • Jared Goumans pitched four innings in relief for the North Delta Pirates. The righty gave up three hits and one run while, striking out six and walking none.

  • Noah Grant led things off on the mound for the North Delta Pirates. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out two and walking three. He left the mound at the end of the third inning with the game tied 2-2.

  • Caleb Grubbles started off the game for Kamloops and allowed two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out two and walking five.

  • Stoochnoff led the North Delta Pirates with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day.

  • Ryo Ikeda, N. Grant, Tyler Bernabe, and Stoochnoff each collected one hit for North Delta.

  • Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 11 walks for the game.

  • Goumans led the North Delta Pirates with three walks and three stolen bases.

  • The North Delta Pirates piled up six stolen bases in the game while being sure handed in the field, committing no errors.

  • Kasen and Jayce Matkowski each collected two hits and drove in one run for Kamloops.

  • Kamloops turned one double play in the game.

  • The North Delta Pirates now have an almost two week break in their schedule. They are next slated to play Chilliwack in a double header on Saturday, April 27th at Mackie Park in North Delta.
