North Delta Pirates Earn Walk-Off Win Over Victoria Seawolves

The North Delta Pirates took the first of a double header against the Victoria Seawolves in dramatic fashion Saturday morning, with a 6-5 walk-off victory in the bottom of the tenth inning, three innings into extras. The game was tied at five when Noah Saunders laid down a bunt against Victoria pitcher Eli Tonken and Jared Goumans beat the throw home to score the winning run.

  • A sacrifice fly by Ian Feldhuhn put Victoria on the board in the top of the first.

  • Victoria added to their lead in the top of the third inning when a ground out by Feldhuhnm increase Victoria’s margin to 2-0.

  • The North Delta Pirates tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth thanks to singles by Riku Sakuta and Saunders that scored two runs.

  • A double by Feldhuhn gave Victoria the lead back 3-2 in the top of the fifth.

  • Sakuta earned an RBI ground out in the bottom of the sixth, knotting the game once again at 3-3.

  • In the top of the eighth, Victoria went ahead again, 5-3, when Goodson doubled, scoring one run and Connor Carroll singled, scoring another.

  • North Delta replied in the bottom of the eighth on another Sakuta single and a series of Victoria errors that first scored Sammy Wong and then Sakuta himself.

  • The game remained deadlocked until the bottom of the tenth when, with the bases loaded, Saunders laid down a bunt and Goumans beat the throw home to score the winning run.

  • Noah Grant earned the win for the North Delta Pirates. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and three runs (one earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking seven.

  • Avery Saxon took the loss for Victoria. The righty went four and one-third innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking three.

  • Liam Jones threw three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out three.

  • Tomas Mancini threw one and two-thirds of no-run ball for the North Delta Pirates in relief. They surrendered two hits, striking out one and walking three.

  • The North Delta Pirates amassed fourteen hits in the game. Sakuta was instrumental in the game, leading North Delta with two runs batted in and going 3-for-5 on the day.

  • Goumans and Ryo Ikeda each collected multiple hits for the North Delta Pirates.

  • Lucas Stebbings led the North Delta Pirates with three walks.

  • Goumans stole two bases.

  • Overall, the North Delta Pirates had a strong eye at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game.

  • Victoria amassed fifteen hits in the game.

  • Feldhuhn provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Victoria with two runs batted in and going 1-for-3 on the day.

  • Damien Cataldo went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Victoria in hits.

  • Riley Watters, Carroll, and Brayden Macdougall each collected multiple hits for Victoria.

  • The North Delta Pirates play the second of a double header against Victoria this afternoon.
