North Delta Pirates Storm Back to Defeat Victoria Seawolves, Run Unbeaten Streak to Eight

The North Delta Pirates rallied to top the Victoria Seawolves 8-7 in the second game of a double header on Saturday, even though they trailed 4-0 at the middle of the sixth inning. But, by the end of that same inning, the North Delta Pirates found themselves up four runs, leading 8-4. Although Victoria battled back, it was not to be as North Delta closed out the game 8-7.

  • Victoria opened the scoring in the third after one run scored on a balk.

  • In the top of the fifth, Victoria added to its lead on a triple by Jayden Ferreira that scored two.

  • In the same inning, a ground out by Feldhuhn scored an additional run and Victoria extended their lead to 4-0.

  • The North Delta Pirates flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring eight runs on six hits to take the lead 8-4. It was an all-hands-on-deck effort that dramatically changed the game with the biggest blow a single by Ryo Ikeda that drove in two.

  • Although Victoria battled back admirably in the seventh inning, the come-back was not to be as North Delta closed out the game 8-7.

  • Brendan Grant earned the win for the North Delta Pirates. The starting pitcher allowed ten hits and seven runs over six and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking three.

  • Eddie Chapman Miles took the loss for Victoria. The starting pitcher went five and one-third innings, allowing six runs on six hits, striking out sevent and walking four.

  • Jared Goumans appeared in relief for the North Delta Pirates and recorded the save.

  • Ikeda went 3-for-3 at the plate as the left-handed hitter led the team with three runs batted in and also stole two bases.

  • Tyler Conway paced the North Delta Pirates with two walks.

  • Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game.

  • Victoria tallied twelve hits in the game.

  • Ferreira went 4-for-4 at the plate as the centre fielder led the team with two runs batted in.

  • Cohen Loster and Owen Hodder each collected multiple hits for Victoria.

  • The North Delta Pirates welcome the surging Kelowna SunDevils on Sunday, May 12th at Mackie Park in their second double header in as many days.
