North Delta Pirates Defeat Kamloops RiverDogs College Prep in Pitching Duel; Move on to Final Against Cloverdale Rangers College Prep at Noon, Monday

The North Delta Pirates showed great heart against the Kamloops RiverDogs College Prep team, earning a 1-0 victory in a game agains the Kamloops RiverDogs College Prep team that went down to the wire Monday morning. The game was tied at zero in a pitcher’s duel in the bottom of the sixth when Tyler Bernabe stole home, scoring the deciding run. Both teams were strong on the bump. North Delta struck out seven while Kamloops sat down five.

  • Noah Grant earned the win for the North Delta Pirates. The righty pitched a full game shut out, surrendering five hits and zero runs over seven innings while striking out seven. He did not walk a batter in the game.

  • Ryo Ikeda was 2-for-3 at the plate for North Delta, including the hit that put the pressure on Kamloops’ defence and opened up the opportunity for Bernabe to score from third.

  • Bernabe, Sammy Wong, N. Grant, and Tyler Conway picked up the other hits for the North Delta Pirates.

  • Tate Spence took the loss for Kamloops College Prep. They went six innings, giving up one run (zero earned) on six hits, striking out five and also walking none.

  • Damon Golz led Kamloops with two hits in three at bats.

  • Kamloops did not commit a single error in the game.

The North Delta Pirates will meet the Cloverdale Rangers College Prep team in the final of the Sussex All-Star tournament today at noon in Kamloops.
