North Delta Pirates Claim Victory over Vancouver Mounties

The North Delta Pirates were victorious against the Vancouver Mounties 6-2 on Saturday at Mackie Park in North Delta.

  • With the bases loaded in the top of the first, Noah Grant struck out Vancouver’s #4 hitter looking and on the very next pitch Vancouver grounded into a 4-6-3 double play and the North Delta Pirates emerged from the first with no runs against.

  • In the bottom of the first Sammy Wong tripled, scoring two runs and a wild pitch scored another and the North Delta Pirates had the lead 3-0 going into the second inning.

  • North Delta added to its lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Wong scored on another wild pitch and found themselves up 6-0 going into the top of the final inning on runs scored by Tyler Bernabe and Jared Goumans.

  • Vancouver made it a bit closer, scoring a couple of late runs in the seventh but the North Delta Pirates eventually claimed victory 6 - 2.

  • N. Grant stepped on the mound first for the North Delta Pirates. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out five and walking eight, and earning the win.

  • Cohen Kurucz started on the mount for Vancouver. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and six runs (five earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking two.

  • Nathan Strang tossed one inning of scoreless ball for the North Delta Pirates in relief. They gave up one hit, striking out none and walking none.

  • Wong provided pop in the middle of the lineup, going 1-for-3 on the day while Bernabe went 2-for-3.

  • The North Delta Pirates were sure-handed all day, committing zero errors and turned a season-high three double plays in the game.

  • Akito Yabunouchi led the Vancouver Mounties with one RBI.

  • Tovi Salzman went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Vancouver in hits.

  • Isaac Hansen paced Vancouver with two walks.

  • The North Delta Pirates play Vancouver in the second game of a double header this afternoon at Mackie Field.
