Noah Grant’s Shut-out No-Hitter and Jared Gouman’s Clutch Hitting Propel North Delta Pirates to Victory over Cowichan Valley Mustangs

Jared Goumans drove in four runs on three hits to lead the North Delta Pirates offence against the Cowichan Valley Mustangs on Sunday while Noah Grant through a complete game, no-hit shut-out to shut the door defensively. Goumans doubled in the first, third and fifth inning to go 3-for-3 at the plate. Meanwhile, N. Grant struck out 10 batters, surrendering zero runs and while walking four. North Delta emerged victorious 13-0.

  • The North Delta Pirates jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Goumans doubled, scoring two runs and then scored on a sacrifice fly after tagging up.

  • North Delta added another run in the third when Sammy Wong doubled and a fifth run in the fifth - both plays cashed in Goumans.

  • N. Grant struck out the side in the bottom of the fifth, holding the score to 5-0 in favour of North Delta.

  • In the top of the sixth inning North Delta scored eight runs on three hits. Lucas Stebbings singled, scoring one run, Carson Stoochnoff singled, scoring one run, and Ryo Ikeda singled, scoring one run.

  • The game ended after six with a final score of 13-0. N. Grant received the win.

  • Seth Williams stepped on the mound first for Cowichan. The starting pitcher allowed nine runs on 11 hits over five and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two.

  • Kelton Jack led Cowichan with one hit in two at bats and the Mustangs turned one double play in the game.

  • The North Delta Pirates accumulated 12 hits in the game, turned one double play, and didn’t commit a single error in the field.

  • The North Delta Pirates play the Cowichan Mustangs in a the second game of a double header this afternoon.
