North Delta Pirates Walk It Off Against Tri City Thunder
The North Delta Pirates took Tuesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with and 8-7 walk-off victory over Tri City. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the seventh when Payton Harper ripped a single and Brendan Grant flew head-first across home plate, scoring the final run.

The North Delta Pirates got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Ryo Ikeda doubled, scoring Tyler Bernabe from third. After Ikeda advanced to third on a pass ball, Jared Goumans hit a sacrifice fly and Ikeda scored after tagging up at third.
Tri City took the lead 3-2 in the top of the third when a wild pitch scored a run and a subsequent error on the same play scored another.
In the bottom of the third, the North Delta Pirates when back into the lead 4-3 on an Ikeda double that scored Bernabe and on a ground-out by Riku Sakuta that scored Ikeda.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the North Delta Pirates added two runs to lead 6-3 when Ikeda hit a hard ground ball and Kyle Sallinen and Harper scored.
In the top of the fifth Tri City battled back again scoring two runs on a passed ball and a single, trimming the North Delta Pirates lead to 6-5.
Then, in the top of the sixth Tri City tied the game 6-6 when an error resulted in an additional run.
The North Delta Pirates pushed back in the bottom of the sixth with another Bernabe run when Goumans singled, finding themselves back up 7-6.
But Tri City battled back again, scoring one run in the top of the seventh on a single and the game was tied 7-7 going into the bottom of the 7th.
In the first at-bat of the seventh inning, B. Grant walked and the potential winning run was aboard. A Noah Saunders sacrifice bunt moved B. Grant to 2nd base. And with two outs, Harper singled on a line drive, scoring the deciding run 8-7.
B. Grant earned the win for the North Delta Pirates. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and three runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking three.
Jason Jang took the loss for Tri City. The starting pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering six runs (three earned) on four hits, striking out three and walking three.
Goumans collected the save.
Ikeda collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Ikeda doubled in the first inning, doubled in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Goumans and Ikeda were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the North Delta Pirates.
Harper collected two hits in four at bats for North Delta.
Bernabe had three walks and scored three runs.
Saunders stole two bases and the North Delta Pirates had a total of eight in the game.
Murphy, Riley Penner, and Gus Villanueva each drove in one run for Tri City.
Aster Hwang led Tri City with two hits in three at bats.
Jack Hoegler stole two bases.
The North Delta Pirates welcome the Aldergrove BlueSox on Saturday for their next game.
