It’s Déjà Vu; Big Second Inning Leads North Delta Pirates Past West Kelowna D-Backs, Again

The North Delta Pirates defeated the West Kelowna D-Backs 15-5 in the second game of a double header on Sunday thanks in part to nine runs in the second inning, all scored with two outs.

Please see a recap of the game below:

  • The North Delta Pirates opened the scoring in the first after Tyler Bernabe scored after tagging up and North Delta led 1-0 after one inning.

  • Then, with two out in the bottom of the second inning, the North Delta Pirates scored nine straight runs. Noah Grant doubled, scoring one run, Tyler Conway singled, driving in two runs, Sammy Wong was struck by a pitch, scoring a run, Lucas Stebbings singled, scoring one run, Payton Harper singled, scoring two runs, and Brendan Grant singled, scoring two runs.

  • A double by Ryo Ikeda, and a dropped third strike by West Kelowna helped the North Delta Pirates extend their lead to 13-3 in the third.

  • The North Delta Pirates cruised to another win, 15-5, in a mercy-induced, shortened, 4-and-a-half inning game.

  • B. Grant stepped on the hill first for the North Delta Pirates. The starting pitcher earned the win, allowing four hits and three runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking four.

  • Landon Otteson started the game for West Kelowna and surrendered five hits and 10 runs over two innings, striking out none and walking three.

  • Tomas Mancini appeared in relief for North Delta and picked up the save.

  • Ikeda provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led North Delta with three RBI, going 1-for-3 on the day.

  • Stebbings, Bernabe, Liam Jones, Harper, B. Grant, N. Grant, Conway, and Ikeda each collected one hit for the North Delta Pirates.

  • Conway led North Delta with two walks and the team amassed eight walks in the game.

  • Harper stole two bases.

  • The North Delta Pirates turned one double play in the game.

  • Britain Konneke seized on their opportunities, leading West Kelowna with two RBI from the number seven spot in the lineup. The short stop went 1-for-2 on teh day.

  • Keefer Edwards went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead West Kelowna in hits.

  • Oliver Highes paced West Kelowna with two walks and the team had seven walks in the game.

  • Next up for the North Delta Pirates is a game at Ambleside Park against the North Shore Knights on Tuesday, June 18th.
