Bats Stymied for Both Teams as the North Delta Pirates Come Up Just Short Against the Penticton Tigers

NORTH DELTA, BC — April 13, 2024

Both teams were strong on the hill on Saturday, but the Penticton Tigers were just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-1 victory over the North Delta Pirates. The North Delta Pirates were right in it until Penticton singled in the sixth inning, scoring the go-ahead and eventual game-clinching run. Brendan Grant started the game for the North Delta Pirates and recorded 21 outs in a complete game.

  • A single by Sammy Wong on the sixth pitch of their at-bat put the North Delta Pirates on the board in the bottom of the first.

  • Carson Burnett singled, which helped Penticton tie the game at one in the top of the third.

  • Ronnan Castelone earned the win for Penticton. The right surrendered one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one.

  • Despite allowing only one earned run across the entire game, Grant took the loos for the North Delta Pirates after going seven innings, allowing three hits, striking out four and walking four.

  • Jared Goumans, Riku Sakuta, Tyler Conway and Wong each collected one hit for the North Delta Pirates.

  • Wong led the North Delta Pirates with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day.

  • Goumans stole two bases.

  • The North Delta Pirates turned one double play in the game.

  • Burnett, Hunter Clements, and Wyatt Moore each collected a hit for Pentictorn.

  • Burnett and Clements each drove in one run for Penticton.

  • Penticton were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. The North Delta Pirates committed four.
