Sammy Wong Drives in 6 to Lead North Delta Pirates Past South Fraser Giants

Sammy Wong drove in six runs on three hits to lead the North Delta Pirates past the South Fraser Giants in the second game of a double header on Sunday at Mackie Park. Wong doubled in the fourth scoring three, singled in third scoring two, and singled in the first scoring one.

  • A single by Wong put the North Delta Pirates on the board in the bottom of the first.

  • Payton Harper hit into a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the second, extending the lead to 2-0.

  • A single by Wong in the third, combined with an error, helped North Delta extend their lead in the bottom of the third to 5-0.

  • In the fourth a Tyler Bernabe single scored Lucas Stebbings and then Wong doubled, driving in three more extending the lead to 9-0. And, after three additional scoreless innings, that’s the way the game ended.

  • Noah Grant earned the win for the North Delta Pirates - his team-leading 8th of the season. The righty gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking two.

  • Hunter Dutton took the loss for the South Fraser giants. The left-handed pitcher went four innings, surrendering nine runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking six.

  • Tomas Mancini pitched three innings in relief for North Delta, surrendering zero runs while striking out two and walking none.

  • Liam Jones collected two hits for the North Delta Pirates in three at bats.

  • North Delta tallied six walks in the game with Stebbings and Jared Goumans leading the team with two bases on balls each.

  • Bernabe stole two bases and the team collected seven in the game.

  • Max Bergen and Isaac Harmer each collected a hit for the South Fraser Giants.

  • The North Delta Pirates will travel to the Cloverdale Rangers for their next game on Tuesday.
